Aftermath of the 2020 election termed 'frightening' by officials across party lines due to violent threats and racially insensitive messages.

In Washington, D.C.Omar Sabir, a City Commissioner from Philadelphia,

was present at the Pennsylvania Convention Center on November 5, 2020.

His purpose was to assist in the counting of votes for the recent presidential election.

But something else was brewing that day.

According to Sabir's statement to USA TODAY,

law enforcement authorities were informed that individuals armed and hailing from Virginia were planning to travel to Philadelphia.

Their purported intention was to intervene and influence the election situation.

Upon their arrival in a vehicle near the convention center, Joshua Macias and Antonio LaMotta,

who were backers of former President Donald Trump, were swiftly captured.

The men were carrying handguns at the time.

We persisted in our efforts because we recognized a responsibility that needed fulfillment.

The presence of those circumstances wasn't going to deter me," Sabir remarked.

Looking back, it's quite astounding that certain weapons were within such close proximity as we finished the task."
